Wayne Henshall
CNIB
Wayne Henshall has spent his life navigating and dismantling the barriers that people with sight loss encounter every day. As someone who understands these challenges firsthand, he has become a powerful advocate for building a world where accessibility is not an afterthought but a shared responsibility. His mission is simple and bold: empower people who are blind or have low vision, and equip sighted allies with the tools to stand beside them. Wayne joined the CNIB Foundation in 2018 after helping design and launch the groundbreaking Come to Work program as a volunteer. His early leadership shaped a national movement that connects job seekers who are blind, low vision, or Deafblind with employers ready to embrace talent, innovation, and inclusion. Today, as CNIB's Director of Partnerships and Innovation, Wayne brings together business transformation, collaboration, and community insight to build partnerships that open doors and keep them open. Before stepping into the nonprofit sector, Wayne spent two decades with IBM and Lenovo, leading global teams and developing customer-focused systems across multiple industries. He now channels that experience into reshaping how organizations think about accessibility, inclusive hiring, and the role every person can play in creating equitable spaces. Wayne believes that being an ally to the blind community is not about perfection. It is about curiosity, accountability, and action. Whether he is advising executives, mentoring job seekers, or designing new initiatives, he champions a simple truth: when we remove barriers for people with sight loss, we build a better world for everyone.
